LOKI POKÉ Social Media Manager Janine Alexander gives her top 5 water-based activities around Bristol's harbour

We are so lucky at LOKI POKÉ that our takeaway at Wapping Wharf is right by the beautiful Bristol Harbourside. One of the best ways to see Bristol is from the water! Here are some of my favourite activities to do with friends and family, from Stand Up Paddle boarding to afternoon tea trips up the River Avon:

Activities to do on the water

If you want to do something immersive and fun, and to get the best views of Bristol Harbour, take a boat trip, or kayak or paddle board around it.

Paddle board along the Harbour with SUP Bristol

SUPing (Stand Up Paddleboarding) is a great way to explore the water. SUPs are large floats, which you stand or kneel on and use a paddle to steer and move about with. SUP Bristol runs private and public sessions which are bookable via their website. Stop by LOKI POKÉ for a refuel after.

Kayak with All Aboard Water Sports

Don’t fancy standing up on the water? Kayaking is a great way to see the sites of the harbour on your own boat, whilst sitting down! All Aboard runs private or group sessions with an instructor and also have reduced rates for people with additional needs.

Don’t want to get out of your day clothes? There are options to explore the water via a motor boat!

Bristol Packet boat trips

Bristol Packet Boat trips run tours of the harbour which point out famous landmarks and explain the history behind them. They also offer trips along the Avon Gorge, where you can go under the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Bristol Packet Boat trips also offer other outings which include cream teas and pub lunches at local eateries - check out their website for more information.

Bristol Water taxi with Bristol Ferry Boats

A ferry across Bristol Harbour is arguably one of the most exciting ways to get around the city; Bristol Ferry runs water taxis from Temple Meads, Castle Park, City Centre, Wapping Wharf, SS Great Britain, Mardyke and The Cottage. Their boats are also available for private hire and they run fun trips along the Harbour, including gin cruises and a trip to Beese’s, a beautiful food and drink and event space on the water.

The Matthew

The Matthew is a replica of a ship that played a role in transatlantic voyaging between 1476 and the 1500s. The Matthew is only one minute away from our take away at Wapping Wharf, which you can wander over to after getting your LOKI POKÉ bowl. As well as taking a tour around The Matthew, you can actually take a boat trip on it! This one is especially great for the kids.
